It’s Kevin and Stephanie Connolly’s fifth wedding anniversary, and Kevin has a night of celebration planned for them. Of course, this means he won’t be going out on his regular patrol of Metro City as his alter-ego, M-Pulse, the self-appointed Eminence of Electromagnetism. But things should be fine without him for one night, right? Wrong.
One would think that there could be no secrets left between a husband and wife after five years of matrimonial bliss, but when a powerful super villain’s attack interrupts Kevin and Stephanie’s date, a hero’s unmasking bears significant consequences for the Connollys.
Consequences that will resonate and redefine their relationship forever.

Production History

Play/Time at Theatre Unleashed
Developed as a part of Theatre Unleashed‘s Play/Time, Happy Anniversary was the first draft of the ten-minute play that would soon become The Anniversary Issue, then later Tattered Capes.
The Anniversary Issue at Short+Sweet Hollywood
It took almost three years for the script to be performed again, but when Greg was invited to produce a 10-minute play to the inaugural Short+Sweet Festival in Hollywood, he knew exactly what to bring. Renaming the show The Anniversary Issue, Greg took the opportunity to direct the show himself, and in taking the time to rediscover the material, he realized that there was a lot more of this story to tell.
The Anniversary Issue at Serial Killers at Sacred Fools
After Short+Sweet, Greg wrote a loose outline for a full-length version of The Anniversary Issue and submitted the script to L.A.’s Theatrical Thunderdome – Serial Killers at Sacred Fools. Every week, five shows entered, only three shows left alive each week to continue their story. The Anniversary Issue would survive through its third episode. But the story didn’t end there.
Though it was killed off months prior, The Anniversary Issue made it into the Season 12 Playoffs at Serial Killers by audience vote. Sadly, the show didn’t advance past the quarterfinals. But it did give Greg the incentive to keep working on finishing that first draft.
Hollywood Fringe Festival at studio/stage
Tattered Capes, presented by Theatre Unleashed at studio/stage, opens June 8th as part of the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Hollywood Fringe Encore Series at studio/stage
Tattered Capes was honored with a Producers Encore Award, and enjoyed an encore run at studio/stage between July 24th and 28th as part of the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Encore Series.
“Passionately written with such love of the comic genre, but still a relationship drama at heart.“
